First off, no, I did not spell "peper" wrong. Culpeper is spelled with only one "p." Weird, right?
Anyway, this weekend I took a roadtrip up to Charlottesville and Culpeper, Virginia with my mom for a little play and some working out! (Yes, working out, not WORKING!)
First stop in Charlottesville, of course, was good ol' UVA...my Mom's alma mater!
After a great day in Charlottesville and wandering around the downtown mall area, it was time to head north on Route 29 up to Culpeper, Virginia- a small and surprisingly cute town tucked in between Charlottesville and Washington, DC. Culpeper has actually been named "One of 10 Best Small Towns in America."
We were headed to Culpeper because the next morning I had a triathlon in which I was swimming the 1500m portion of the triathlon on a relay team, ekkk!
After packet pickup, we wandered around Culpeper, since it was the first time my Mom and I had ever both been to this small town and it was super cute! We ended up having dinner at this small local place called "It's About Thyme." I HIGHLY recommend this spot for dinner or lunch if you ever find yourself in small-town Culpeper, Virginia.
The next morning, we headed to Mountain Run Lake Park for the Culpeper Triathlon! After a foggy morning and the possibility of the swimming portion of the race actually get cancelled (ekkk!), the race officials decided to have a 15 minute delay, whew!
Although the water was murky and I was afraid of creepy-crawly-creatures, I ended up with an overall swim time of 24.38, 2nd fastest female swimming time overall, wooohooo! AND our relay team came in 1st place in the mixed relay category, WAY TO GO!'
Check out more about the race on my co-workers blog, HERE!
Overall, it was a successful and "winning" weekend and another great weekend spending time with my amazing mother! Hope you're weekend was fun too! More adventures to come....including another mother daughter trip :-)
Cheers!

Here we are on the lawn near the Rotunda! Even though it was a cloudy day, we had a great time touring around the grounds!
Then, you most certainly CANNOT visit UVA without stopping into Mincer's on University Ave. We picked up a few goodies for my little brothers! Find your UVA goodies here...
Rows on rows on rows of UVA merchandise!
Also, can't visit UVA without at least singing the chant from "The Good Ole Song:"
Wah-hoo-wah, wah-hoo-wah! Uni-v, Virginia!
Hoo-rah-ray, hoo-rah-ray, ray, ray--UVA!
By then, we were ready for lunch and stopped in at this amazing, delicous and local market and deli, feast! Not only did I get the most delicious local chicken salad melt (yummy!) while my mom got a yummy sandwich with figs (nomnom!), but we also got these delicious local juices, ooolaalaa!
The watermelon was AMAZING!!!
