Weekend House Projects

Now that we are expecting our first overnight guests for Thanksgiving, we are on a tight deadline to get house projects completed.............

On the list this past weekend was painting the guest bathroom and organizing the guest bedroom.

Guest Bathroom

So, we originally have NO IDEA what color to paint to guest bathroom.  My mom and husband found a beautiful golden yellow paint color in hopes to paint our dining room that color.  Last weekend, my husband started painting the dining room this yellow color (Benjamin Moore, Beeswax) and I literally screamed "STOP!!!"  It was WAYYYY to bright for our dining room.  So, we decided, okay well how about we use this color and do yellow stripes in our guest bathroom?!?!

This weekend we took on the task of painting horizontal stripes in the guest bathroom.  I'm here to tell you, stripes are NOT EASY!  The taping part is extremely tedious, especially in a bathroom because there are multiple walls and corners and things in the way that can't be moved easily (i.e., toilet, vanity mirror, shower, etc.)

Here are some photos of the process.  We will take the tape off tonight, ekkkkk!  Fingers crossed everything comes up nicely!

Guest Bedroom

We've been working on our guest bedroom for a while now.  The theme of the room is nautical, so lots of navy, white and natural colors.  There are still a few more things needed for the room, but it has come together nicely!

Enjoy these photos, with descriptions on where everything is from!

Curtains- From my mom's house- I think they are Pottery Barn; Rope mirror- Home Goods; Rope basket- Pottery Barn; Duvet Cover- West Elm; Sheets- Target; Headboard- See below

Bag- L.L. Bean (Bridesmaid gift from a wedding I was in!); Candle Holder- Hand-me-down, don't know!; Oar- Kyle's graduation gift; Rope mirror- Home Goods; Bottles- World Market

The headboard is three antique shutters I got at Through The Garden Gate and then I draped old fish net on them.  Love the rustic feel!

The print is a hand-me-down from my husband's parents!

Happy Monday!
Lynn
