The Month of September (aka my favorite month)

September is arguably my favorite month of the year, for the following reasons:

1. It's my birthday month. For those of you who know me, know that I LOVE my birthday- like obsessed!  Maybe it's because for years growing up I had to "share" it with my younger brother, since we have the same birthday.  Or maybe it's just because birthdays are awesome?  Either way, my birthday, September 6th, is always a pretty happy day for me!

2. It is a month that brings new beginnings.  September brings the end of summer and the beginning of fall.  Kids are going back to school.  Lots of hustle and bustle happening- love it!  Also, I love the back to school sales and end of summer sales that all the stores have!

3. The weather is awesome.  The month begins with hot summer days and nights and ends with hot days but cooler nights.  The nights when you can sleep with the windows open happen more frequently- my favorite!

4. Time to relax.  September is the last month to truly relax before all the craziness of the holidays- Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Here are a few unknown facts about the month of September:

• September begins on the same day of the week as December because there are 91 days separating September and December, which is a multiple of 7 (7 days in a week).
• September 19th is International Talk Like a Pirate Day.
• The birth flowers for September are forget-me-not, morning glory and aster.  Forget-me-nots represent love and memories, asters represent love as well, and the morning glory represents unrequited love.  All are very passionate flowers.
• The birth stone for the month of September is the sapphire.  The sapphire represents clarity of thought, intuition, and peacefulness.
• September is the ninth month and the only month with the same number of letters in its name in English as the number of the month.
• At least six films have had the title "September," which is more than any other month.
• The Constitution of the United States was signed September 17, 1787.
• The United States Supreme Court was established September 24th, 1789.
• Band-Aids were invented in the month of September.
• September 5th is National Cheese Pizza Day.
• September 9th is National Teddy Bear Day.
• September 12th is National Chocolate Milkshake Day.
• The 4th week of September is National Dog Week.

For me, these are some of the important September dates in my life:

• September 6th is MY BIRTHDAY!
• September 6th is my brother's birthday- he is 5 years younger than me!
• September 2nd is my friend Alison's birthday.
• I meet Kyle (my huband) on September 2nd, 2007.
• September 7th is my friend Caitlin's birthday.
• My first date with Kyle was September 13th, 2007.
• My twin aunt's birthday is September 11th.

As you can tell, September is a pretty enjoyable month and personally one of my favorites!
